ABOUT
Our Club
Since 1923, the Wakefield-Reading Y Service Club has been an active member of the community. Our all-volunteer organization raises and distributes money to support children and families locally. Click here to see some of our activities.
As the oldest operating club in the US within our parent organization, Y's Men International, we also provide a small amount of support worldwide to contribute in a small way to solving some of the world's problems.
Our close affiliation with the Burbank YMCA (Reading) and the former Wakefield YMCA makes us one of the largest individual contributors to programs that they manage, and we help make it possible for children and families to receive services at no cost or a reduced cost. Our efforts help provides access to health & fitness, sport, swimming and wellness programs, childcare services, and YMCA camp programs.
Like other worldwide charitable organizations, we hold monthly meetings of our members and guests, to plan the support and services we offer to the YMCA and the community. To join us, CLICK HERE.
Our primary fundraiser
For at least 65 years, the Wakefield-Reading Y Service Club has sold Christmas trees and wreaths on the shore of Lake Quannapowitt. As an all-volunteer organization, 100% of the money raised goes to the local communities we support.
Best Summer Ever™
The Y Service Club has been performing service projects at the Burbank YMCA's Camp Wakanda for more than 35 years. Y Camps keeps kids engaged, safe, healthy and learning. Above all, the YMCA focuses on making summer fun!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Opportunities for Students
The Wakefield-Reading Y Service Club has funded 5 different permanent scholarship funds through The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield and 1 fund through the Reading Scholarship Foundation of Reading. We are exploring offering additional scholarships for students outside of Reading and Wakefield.
Students that volunteer at our tree sale have their service hours confirmed in writing to satisfy school/club requirements.
Y'S MEN INTERNATIONAL
