Beyond bucks: ways to make a difference
Updated: Oct 31, 2019
The YMCA began as an all volunteer organization where local individuals promoted good sportsmanship in athletic contests in gyms and swimming pools. Today the YMCA of Greater Boston, including the Burbank YMCA in Reading, is the largest social service provider in Massachusetts. As our world evolves, the YMCA is now staffed with professionals, and donating money has become an important part of providing their services.
We don't all have lots of money to spare, and so our club provides a way to utilitize people's time instead of money. We convert that time to money by selling Christmas Trees and Wreaths at our annual sale. It is a rewarding experience to work, and we interact with members of our community, all to make a difference in the lives of children and families who need our support.
We hope you will join us!!
